I have heard this story very recently. Some politician (Won’t reveal his name) refused to sanction some project since no bribe was given and written as “Not permitted” in the file. After that he got enough money. Wt could be done in the front page? As he has an excellent intelligence he converted the same note with the letter ‘e’ and a symbol ‘:’ i.e changed the sentence “Not permitted” to “Note: Permitted” . Changing the existing record as per own’s wish is very critical and need more intelligence. See the inscription from Kailāsanātha temple, Kāñcīpuram. The inscription mentions the name of the king as “Bhīma” and explains his glory that he made donations to Bhīmeśvara. So many adventures and usual comparisons are glorifying the king. But the last two lines change the record. The inscription is in Sanskrit with some Telugu lines. The last lines are in tamil go like this “Ippariśuḷḷa Ivanai Korā(jakesari-varmar) Kaikoṇḍār.” Ko-Rājakesari-varmmā captured him who has the above glory. The Rājakesari varmā here mentioned is Rājarāja the great and the king was Jaṭā-coḍa-Bhīma of Telugu Coḍa race. Rāja-rāja captured Bhīma in 1000 CE which was confirmed by the copperplates. Now the question is how the inscription of Bhīma is found inside Kailāsanātha temple at Kāñcīpuram? Dr. K.A. Nīlakaṇṭha śāstri and other scholars have concluded that Bhīma captured Kāñcī and was retrieved by Rājarāja I. But this theory doesn’t have any support except this record. If Bhīma has conquered Kāñcī, They why no record is found and how the inscriptions of Rājarāja I are continuously found? Even the victory is not claimed by Bhīma in any of his record. The how it is possible? Not even the mention of the temple where it is placed is available in the present record. Rather it mentions the Bhīmeśvara and Dākārarambhi (Drākṣārāma). Prof. S.Śaṅkaranārāyaṇa śāstrī, has given a logical explanation that the śāsana kāra or the royal writer could have copied the titles of Bhīma from Bhīmeśvara temple and added the last lines to glorify his own king Rājarāja by stating that he captured a great king. He has written the verses from Bhīma’s Praśasti with small changes. Bhīma is compared with Rāvaṇa in the present copy like “Kṛte Rāvaṇaḥ”. How a king of high order will compare himself with Rāvaṇa? śāstri gives an explanation that the Royal writer changed the reading from “Kṛte Rāghavaḥ” (Rāma in Kṛta yuga) to “Kṛte Ravaṇaḥ” Without affecting the metre. But the thing is the inscription is abandoned in the grass field of the temple surrounding. Such a valuable inscription is abandoned and broken in middle. What can v do?
