I have hit an amazing point in my life. The point in which I feel excitement about my fair/pale skin. Society has always told me that its not ok to be fair. Everyone is tan or sun kissed & people have always made rude comments to me about my skin. My family is Italian (on my dads side), so why am I the only one of the four of us who looks like a vampire? That is something Ill never know, but I do know that being on all the antibiotics and meds Im on, Im not supposed to go in the sun. I have to use sunscreen under my makeup as well as makeup with SPF 30 in it. My skin + sun = horrible things. Anyway, I have gone through phases where I put up with my paleness but never embraced it fully. I spray tanned and used self tanner ALL the time, & Im not saying I wont spray tan if Im going to be wearing a swimsuit (I dont want to blind people) but until Im going to be in the situation, Im finally proud of the skin I have. Not only do I not have to edit my pictures whiter for Halloween costumes, but I also started taking a look around. Have you ever seen Katy Perry tan? Have you ever noticed Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Julianne Moore, Kate Moss, or Scarlett Johansson being tan? Thats because there are ALL kinds of beautiful. Sure, being tan is a beautiful tan, but not everyone needs to be that way. People are all about uniqueness until they are faced with it, well I am Noël Nichols & I finally realize that being myself & looking the way I do, makes me unique & THAT is what beauty is. Not skin tones. Amen.
