I have just had a long discussion with my dear veterinarian Benjamin R Buchanan. He is not giving up on Bonnie. He strongly feels her problems are centered around the abscess in her foot. He sent me the radiograph report and it is awful, but she should be able to continue to creek around the pasture as before, once the pain from the abscess has subsided. The plan is that on Monday, we will remove her support shoes, give her another longer lasting block and try to go after this deep set abscess aggressively. We are all stressed beyond belief. We want to do right by our old friend Bonnie. I needed to know if the end result could be that she will be as before, and the answer is yes. She can be restored to her previous self. Keep in mind, Bonnie has serious problems, and has had these problems for YEARS. She has lived with these problems well, and since Dr. Brown started the PS360 the pain management has been significant. I know I sound manic and all over the place about Bonnie, but this is complicated. It is not her time. Not yet. We will know, and Ben has always been a straight shooter with me. He will tell me when there is no hope. There is hope right now, and Bonnie has not thrown in the towel. So, maybe, just maybe she will be with us and those suitors of hers, a little longer.
