I have just recently tried out this expensive Artec 3D scanner, - TopicsExpress

I have just recently tried out this expensive Artec 3D scanner, and its really not as easy as it seems in the video. Each scan session takes 10-20 minutes, and the repairing of the scanned model takes 3-5 hours. It puzzles me how the supermarket in the UK can provide them as such low cost high volume service... 40 pounds per figurine is a bargain! What they didnt tell you in the article is how long you have to wait before you get your own figurine. Maybe one week waiting time. Just to give you an idea... Artec handheld 3D scanner costs around $20K NZ dollars. The ZCorp printer or Projet printer they used in the video could cost up to $150K-$200K NZ dollars. How many figurines do they have to print to make the money back?!
