I have learned as much if not more than my boys doing our homeschool. Today we were discussing certain kinds of plants that needed fire to germinate. There are certain plants that actually do better after a fire. Several species of plants in the chaparral(an ecosystem unique to hot, dry mountain slopes often filled with shrubs) only germinate when their seeds experience a fire. Also the cones of some evergreen trees do not open to release their seeds unless they experience the heat of a fire. This is done to prevent overcrowding and ensures the forest will be reseeded again in the case of a fire. God designed them that way. I couldnt help but think as we were reading about this how God designs us the same way too. There are numerous Verses that speak of being tried in the fire and how our faith becomes like precious gold in the flame. We actually have things in us that cannot be released without heat being applied. To be clear I am not talking about things we experiene due to our own making and faults but to those we do not have any hand in. So many Christians want to pray to be free from any and all obstacles yet it is those very ones many times that give us the oportunity to release what is on the inside. It is interesting that God relates our faith to gold being tried in the fire. In case you didnt know how the impurities are taken out of gold I will share this excerpt from a page I looked at on gold ~~ Natural gold is always in an impure form and have lots of other impurities. These impurities are usually the other metals presens inside the earth and stones etc and are mixed with the gold. A gold refining process is needed to make this crude gold fully pure so that it may be used by the industry to make the products like jewelry and other gold products. The crude gold cannot be used to make the gold products.There are different methods used to make gold pure. A common method, used when you have small amounts of gold, is called cupellation method. This method is very simple. Actually the impurities of gold are attached with the gold in a way that they can not be removed without breaking the gold. For this purpose it is necessarry to heat up the gold so that it is liquified and all the components are freed up.~~ Our faith must be tried to remove all that we have mixed with it that are not from God. When we stay focused on God and HIs Word and allow His Faith in us to rise each time we are put through a fire ,so to speak, then the impurities will be removed causing us to be more like Christ and stronger each time. You never know what is in you until you go through something. God says that out of the abundance of our heart we speak. When you are in the fire then what comes out of your mouth during that time tells you exactly what is in you and it is only by resting solely on the Power of His Word and using the Faith you have in that Word that you will be able to see the impurities of doubt, unbelief, fear, anger, anxiety, offense, etc. leave. Just like the trees will never know their worth until they experience a fire, you too will never know what you are truly made of ,which is God in you the hope of glory, until you are tried by fire. 1 Peter 1:7 - that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
