I have looked at a lot of pictures on this sight over the past couple of days and thought I really havent seen any that look quite like the one on the farm were I grew up(that barn was blown away in a tornado in the early 1970s ) I remember my dad found a letter in the old house in a wall upstairs that was dated in around 1880 and that was kept for a while but I havnt seen it from about 1965 so it may have not been in the move from the farm. I remember the roof of the barn because I use to climb up on the tin sheet roof and slide down it like a slide and it had a roof that was perfect for it it was steep at the top then partway down took a angle that slowed me down. so I didnt fall off the edge. I finally went to european barn sites on the internet and looked through barns from different European countries. After 5 countries I found the design of roof that was very much like our old barn , German, Sarcoxie is the northern edge of a large section of old German decendants and the one area I havent went down through to take any barn pictures is down into that area but I am planing to do it . soon. while looking for barn stiles in European areas I started seeing designs that were here in Missouri
