I have noticed a little bit of accusations of people being fair weather fans or band wagon fans. For myself what I can relate this to is having an uncle that you love. When you were a kid this uncle was big, strong, loving and fun. You looked up to him and got excited to see him. As you grew older this uncle developed a severe drinking problem. He became less reliable and broke your heart over and over again. You still loved him and visited him from time to time, but emotionally started to distance yourself to protect your own heart. You always checked in on him to see how he was doing hoping that he would get better. Then one day out of the blue he gave up drinking and turned his life around. He started working harder to become the man he used to be. Now more than ever you can be proud of him because he has finally realized his potential. And this makes you cry, like the tears I felt yesterday running down my cheek. The Kansas City Royals are now our big strong fun uncle again. All is good in the universe and I am willing to lay my heart on the line once again. Thank you uncle Royal.
