I have noticed that not always but often enough singing groups who started out with a group name and a certain sound and quality to their harmony that unfortunately if they have hit records and the name of the group changes to the lead singers name and the original groups name second ,when these groups record under this new lead name out front then the group the harmony sound that once attracted you now becomes merely incidental to the lead singer and faded back and really at that point could just as well be studio singers backing a solo artist I say this not as an expose but because I have bees disappointed a bunch of times by this evolution or is it a group sound de evolution .Is this inevitable that the lead be singled out and the group left really and actually in the background when they were once 4 or 5 guys who started out together on a street corner , and does this help break groups up when the lead is put in a position where a swell head would be easy , Hey guys I can just as well get background singers because they are not featuring your harmony anymore they are featuring me!!!And so it goes!!
