I have prayed for you, Luke 22:32 What an encouraging thought - TopicsExpress

I have prayed for you, Luke 22:32 What an encouraging thought that our Redeemer never ceases interceding for us. When we pray He pleads our case to God. He advocates our cause. His supplication shield us from unseen danger. Look at the comfort in His words to Peter, Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat Luke 22:31. But…But what, Go and pray for yourself? But I will keep you watchful, and so you will be preserved, even though that would be a great blessing. No, Jesus said, But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail Luke 22:32. We do not know how much we owe to our Savior’s prayers. When we reach the hilltops of heaven and look back on how the Lord our God led us then we will praise Him. We will praise Jesus who, before the eternal throne, undid the mischief Satan was doing on earth. How can we thank Him enough? Jesus never stopped pleading for us. He never held his peace, but day and night he pointed to the wounds on his hands and carried our names on his breastplate. Even before Satan had started to tempt Jesus he hindered him and entered a plea in heaven for us. Mercy outruns malice. Mark it! He does not say, Satan has sifted you and I will pray, but ,Satan has asked for you. He checks Satan’s desires and nips them in the bud. Jesus does not say, But I have desired to pray for you. No! He says, I have prayed for you. I have already done it. I have gone to court and entered an counterplea even before an accusation is made. Oh Jesus, what a comfort to know you have pleaded our cause against an unseen enemy. You have eliminated his charges. You have identified his ambush. This gives me great joy, gratitude, hope, and confidence.
