I have said it many times, and I will continue to say it: You DO NOT have to pay photo-enforced speeding tickets. A picture of your car/license plate is not PROOF of an offense. A picture of you at the wheel of a car is not PROOF of an offense. A speed listed on a postcard is not PROOF that you or your car was traveling at that speed. It is an accusation. Proof is still required, and the human and financial cost of providing that proof rests on the accusing institution. You are NOT required to implicate another person in order to defend yourself. You have a Constitutional RIGHT (6th Amendment) to face a HUMAN accuser when you are accused of an offense; and to remain silent when information is requested concerning an offense you are alleged to have committed (5th Amendment). If you are not under arrest, you generally have a right to delay court proceedings until it is feasible for you to appear. Red-light/Photo-enforced traffic tickets are institutionalized extortion. Do not be scared by the threats. Do not be intimidated. Know your rights and assert them.
