I have some mixed feelings on Randys sermon today. Christians - TopicsExpress

I have some mixed feelings on Randys sermon today. Christians should be good citizens and should obey their nations law. However, when mans law contradicts Gods law, not only do Christians have the right to disobey but its their DUTY to disobey. Even Peter said we should obey Gods law over mans law. In fact, the very reason Peter and Paul were imprisoned is for disobeying mans law. So, while Christians should be gentle, obedient, and respectful of authority, they should never obey an evil order. Even the secular Nuremberg Laws agree with that! And lastly, we live in a democracy. Politicians are not kings, they are public servants and we have the obligation to hold them to high standards, criticize them when they are wrong, and fight for change when needed. (Paul was so critical that he even said he wished the Jewish leaders would castrate themselves! ha!) Yet, it felt like Randy was advising us to obey government no matter what - and to never criticize our leaders. Maybe I misunderstood Randys sermon, or maybe it was incomplete, but I left feeling confused. (Randy, if youre reading this, feel free to clarify as well).
