I have thought about using alternators in the past, but Dave has - TopicsExpress

I have thought about using alternators in the past, but Dave has convinced me to do it that way and stop mucking around with AC/DC chargers. Since he is an excellent welder I should. Welding a frame makes it worth while. Which means recharging will not use any output only mechanical work to the alternator, sitting them either side of the pulleys. The rotational mass of an alternator is small enough to be next to nothing. I would have to change nothing to the pulleys. Just a 1:5 pulley ratio at the alternator. Or a radius of 1.5 inches at the alternator for 3500rpm and 12v 120a a side for a total of 2880watts. Then change the input to 72v 35a or 2520watts.
