I have to admit this update is a bit overdue. Things always seem to get so hectic in the summer with riding, more riding and of course showing. I hope everyone has had an awesome summer. We need to start planning some fall events. Please feel free to email me ANY suggestions and then I can put them in one email and send it out to everyone. We can also have another planning meeting if there is interest – a lot of times only a few members come to those. Now for a bit of a recap with our August events. The first was with Nicole Rombach at Betsy Novotny’s house. It was an awesome slide presentation. She actually had pictures of the insides of horses so you could see the muscle development and diseased joints. You could tell that she is very passionate with what she does. Betsy is going to do a write up – I know I wouldn’t be able to do her justice!! Kudos to Betsy for organizing this. Right after that meeting, was our Summer Social and Silent Auction. It was sooooo well attended. The food was GREAT!! AND we made just short of $2300!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that’s the way to get an educational fund going! Kudos go out to a lot of people; a lot of behind the scenes work was going on which included Pam Link, Joyce Pearl, Linda McDowell, Jo Ellen Hayden, and of course, your 2 favorite co-chairs. I have attached a couple of pictures from the event. The first is of Polly Pittman and her husband, Tom Crogan. They were so gracious to allow us to use their facility. Tom even gave a presentation on the history of the farm. The second picture is of our guest speaker from the night before, Nicole Rombach and Betsy Novotny. Notice our new Tri-County banner in the background. A couple of things that are in the thinking tank so to speak. Liane is working on getting a saddle fitter to come do a presentation. She said he is awesome and she comes away from every one of his lectures with new insight. Another idea is to get a S judge, such as Marilyn Heath (L program examiner) to do a lecture on movements. Hopefully she/we could get access to videos demonstrating several different horse/rider combos performing movements so we can analyze. Betsy also had a suggestion, to get Nicole to return along with her mentor. They have a presentation where they paint the muscles/bones on a horse so you can see the biomechanics while being ridden. Lots of good ideas! Please let me hear from everyone – suggestions, ideas, etc….. and if anyone wants to organize a meeting, please do so. It takes a village….
