I have to brag on my daughter, CAROLINE. Caroline has been selected as a SUPERINTENDENTS FIFTH GRADE SCHOLAR!!! She is one of 195 students chosen from the 32 elementary schools in Jefferson County. There are approximately 3,800 5th grade students in Jefferson County, so this is a HUGE AWARD. The criteria was extremely high. In Alabama, elementary students take a test called the ARMT+ (Alabama Reading & Math Test Plus). They are scored in the 2 categories of reading and math. The highest score you can receive in each subject is 750 points. Then, the students are placed on level I-IV, 4 being the highest level. The first criteria was that Caroline had to score a 692 or higher in Reading or Math. (She scored a 736 in reading and a 725 in math, respectively and was placed on Level 4 in both subjects). The 2nd criteria was that if you met the first criteria, you had to have a Level 4 in the other category, which she did. The third criteria was that she had to be in excellent standing at her elementary school. Finally, the principal had to write a letter of recommendation for Caroline to receive this honor. We do know that at least one other student from Pleasant Grove (Carolines friend Jonathan Corcoran! Great job, Jonathan!) was selected too. I am so very proud of my daughter, and I just had to share her great achievement. Also, I just wanted to thank all of Carolines family and friends that are taking the time to come see her receive her award. Thanks to Daddy, the greatest brother ever -- Ryder, Mammy, Grandpa Jim, Poppy, Gabrielle Snead (Carolines 2nd Mom) and her husband Mr. William, Carolines best friend in the whole wide world Mikayla McCants and her 4 brothers (Will, Meleeke, Xzavier, & Alex), Mikaylas grandparents, Miss Thelma and Granddad (who love Caroline & Ryder like they were their own), our amazing principal Mr. Jay Jacks, and some of Carolines teachers. We love you all so much and are so excited you are coming to support Caroline. If anyone else would like to attend the ceremony, please call and let me know. I have the date, time, and directions, and Caroline would be delighted if anyone else could come. WAY TO GO CAROLINE!!!!
