I have to comment on this. I know this is not popular, but it is what I feel. The protesters in Ferguson do not want the truth or justice. They want a white POs (Police Officer) ass. Had it been a black cop and a white man this would have long been over. We do not look for excuses to riot and loot. The protesters in Ferguson are saying they are fighting racism, but in fact, they are promoting racism. My father tells a story of a time he was asked by a defense attorney why 93% of his arrests were of black people. Dad replied that 95% of his precinct is black. We are not racist. What we hate is the fact that SOME people want to manipulate the system to get the outcome they want, regardless of what is true and just. If there is a no bill returned, what about that PO. His, and that of his family, life is forever changed. He is forgotten in all of this. If he ever returns to being a PO, what will he do next time? Fail to act and allow himself, or an innocent person, to be killed? People today should not pay a price for what was done in the past. I am part American Indian. Should I expect the world to be handed to me for what happened to my ancestors? I dont. I expect to have to work for what I want. If I want that job, I know I should be qualified for it. I grew up in Detroit. A definite minority in the city. Should I have been given special treatment because I was a minority? I was a police officer for 15 years, my father 25 years, and have been around police officers all of my life. Police officers dont want to shoot anyone, And they definitely do not want to kill anyone. I have never had to kill anyone and am thankful for that. My father was not so lucky. He had to do it 17 times in his career. He still has nightmares about it. His biggest fear is when he dies. Is God going forgive him for taking a life? Officer Wilson is no different. He had a job to do and did it to the best of his ability. If he reacted in a criminal way, then he should be punished. But if he did not act in a criminal manner, he has already been punished. His life, and that of his family, has been taken from him/them. They cannot stay in the St. Louis area. It will be unsafe. What are we going to do about that? Should he file a lawsuit against the protesters for ruining his life? Should he file a lawsuit against the Brown family for the actions of their son? And lets remember, if it is revealed he acted WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE LAW and NO CRIMINAL CHARGERS ARE FILED, the protesters and their supporters will file a civil rights case which has a far less burden to prove then a criminal case. It happened in Detroit a few years back. Three white POs went to trial and all three were found not guilty. But in a civil trial, all three were sent to prison. Let the system work. It is flawed but it is the best we have. There cannot be a perfect system. We have to trust it. We have to accept its decisions. I fear the opposite of the protesters. There is such undue pressure on the system to indict the PO. The system knows what violence they have seen thus far is nothing to what they will see if a no bill is returned. But I will trust the system to do the right thing and the people who riot and commit acts of violence and other criminal acts will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law.
