I have to love my clients more than they love themselves. See their potential more clearly than they do. Refuse to buy into their excuses while simultaneously listening closely to their reasons. Then…give them the hope that there is more potential pleasure in living in the real world than there is in swathing their egos in comforting illusion. Give them opportunities to test the value of tiny steps, so that I’m never asking them to risk more than they can afford. Trust me for five minutes, I say. Just five minutes, and I’ll change your life. Five minutes, and I can change their relationship with stress, keep it from becoming strain. Given that, and they will begin to grow and evolve. Their egos will throw up pain and fear, and if they process it consciously through journaling or speaking to me, they begin to understand the symbols they’ve used to build their internal architecture. Finding their balance, they can de-construct the illusary self while simultaneously discovering their true selves. Start with love. Take five sixty-second breathing breaks during the day. Set solid goals in all three-four major arenas of life, and take equal responsibility for all of them. Journal your dreams and the emotions that arise. Learn to listen to quieter and quieter voices within you to discover which are empowering, and which disempowering. Love yourself ruthlessly. Namaste, Steve
