I have to say that Im pretty disappointed in some of the actions - TopicsExpress

I have to say that Im pretty disappointed in some of the actions and reactions Ive seen from our society after the recent police-involved deaths. There have been roughly 16,000 homicides in the country this year alone and Im pretty sure a large portion of those could be deemed senseless. Im also pretty sure that after the majority of those senseless, tragic events, that the public didnt use looting as their vehicle for grieving. I also dont recall any professional athletes taking a stance with warm up shirts or end zone gestures. My point to all this is that lives were lost tragically and that is something that can never be given back to those families. Why not focus all of this energy into being there for those families? Why not do your part to stop the chain of negative events? Everyone has their opinions and I would encourage those to be shared, but in the most positive manner possible so that it can truly bring about change. All I see are statements being made by high profile people not for the purpose of freedom of speech, but to stoke the already burning fire. All I see are tragic events followed by more tragic events and it saddens me. I know this is a sensitive topic and I contemplated whether or no to even post. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a loved one, regardless of the reason.
