I have to share this story of hope and faith! When Joost and I - TopicsExpress

I have to share this story of hope and faith! When Joost and I went to India, in 2005, 6 months after the tsunami hit, to do volunteerswork for the Tsunami Victims we met Nithin Chandran and Christopher Chandran in a very, very small village in the South of India, called Pillaithopu. pillaithoppu.org/index.html We visited them and their parents on a daily basis and we talked and talked and talked for hours... About the Tsunami, about everything that was going on in their village, about the aftermath. One day I asked Christopher how hed envision his future. This is what he answered 8 years ago: One day I will work on a marine ship and sail across the world and visit you in Holland! His dream came true, he is working on a marine ship, he visited Holland, sadly enough he did not know that Joost and I were back in Holland... So we didnt meet. Now maybe for the people in Holland its pretty normal to do what you really want to and to become what you really want to. But Christophers dream was extremely big. After the tsunami they were left with nothing, really literally nothing. An empty house was all that was left. Nithins mother told me how she had to swim towards the staircase to try to reach the roof of the house. All 4 of them survived, they were very lucky. Many neighbouring families died. Christopher had the guts to dream extremely big and really; he was so convinced, that deep in my heart I also knew that he was going to make it... And so he did and that is why I want to share with you this story of hope and faith. Thanks to Motherhood Wereldwijd/ Motherhood World Wide and Nicolien de Kroon we have been given the chance to travel to India and to help out and to meet and to inspire people in desperate need. And that is why i can say with teary eyes that I am extremely proud of Nithin, Christopher and their family because they NEVER stopped smiling! Every little bit helps and I dont believe in such things as: A drop in the ocean...
