I have tried some different things this week to help me heal. When you have one week left until race day, you will try just about anything! Ha! First, I tried and loved acupuncture! Then on Sunday, I tried CryoFit. I literally froze my ass off! ;) I wouldnt say I loved it (just being honest), but I definitely see how it can be beneficial to my training regimen! So whats CryoFit? Heres a quick answer to give you an idea: This chamber is infused with nitrogen gas and its freezing! You stand in it naked with double socks on each hand and foot (to keep them warm). About every 15 seconds, you rotate to keep moving. I was VERY nervous before going inside. Seriously. So many benefits to this form of treatment, but here are the big ones: *Triggers the release of anti-inflammatory molecules to speed up recovery after long training sessions as well as to heal injuries *Filters the blood making it nutrient rich and full of oxygen If you have ever done an ice bath, this is FAR more effective than that! They have package deals at Foundation Physical Therapy, so I suggest you add it in your training/recovery plan. This is perfect for IM and Marathon athletes. And if you have a nagging injury, give this a try! It just might be the thing that heals you! I go again on Tuesday, so wish me luck and send me warm, cozy thoughts ;)
