I have two Notices of Motion which have been submitted for the next Council Meeting scheduled for Monday 22 September 2014. They both relate to security, as well as our local economy and tourism. The FIRST relates to the annexation of Walhalla, Erica and Rawson. During the 2013 fires, the Erica and Rawson community who needed relief and emergency assistance were sheltered in Moe which is in Latrobe City rather than Baw Baw Shire. NOTICE OF MOTION - That Latrobe City Council engage with Baw Baw Shire to discuss the annexation of Erica, Rawson and Walhalla. The SECOND relates to the Morwell community which has been impacted by the Hazelwood Mine Fire. NOTICE OF MOTION - That the Mayor write to the Premier requesting that ratepayers of Latrobe City with properties with postcode 3840 receive a rate reduction of 10% with the balance to be funded by the State Government for the current rateable year.
