I havent posted anything since Sept 22nd. Think Ive been goofing off all that time? No! During the last week of September I got a bunch of maintenance work done at another building my landlady owns (thats where I took the photos), then had a busy first four days of this month. On Wed, Oct 1, fellow Grinnell College alumnus Kevin Field and I mixed and poured 80lb bags of concrete for four hours. There were 60 in total, or 4,800 lbs. Not bad for a couple old guys! On Thursday, Oct 2, a young couple expecting their first child called me about a mouse infestation, which came to them courtesy of the dumpy little Chinese restaurant that had just opened in the storefront under their condo. I DONT advertise myself as providing pest control services, but they were desperate for any help so I tried my best (their condo association gave them some worthless repellents, and Orkin wouldnt do anything unless they signed up for a service plan). I blocked as many access points as we could find and distributed some peppermint oil, which mice hate. On the 3rd and 4th I prepped and painted a room for a woman on the northwest side who was planning to use the space for a photo studio. On Sunday the 5th I bought a used car.
