I heard a hawk call this morning from inside my house. I stepped out and saw him in a tree in my yard, so I ran back inside and grabbed my camera. I stepped back out on my covered porch in my stocking feet (20 degrees) and watched as the hawk flew to another tree, where he commenced to create little hawks with his mate. I grabbed a bunch of pics, and was about to step inside when a large owlish bird flew from my back yard to my front yard and landed in a tree. I pondered grabbing shoes, but figured Id miss the shot, so I ran about 50 yds down my gravel (and ice) driveway, and snagged this picture from my own front yard. Feeling lucky. :-)
