I heard the recording of MP Theo Heiliger in a Podomatic wherein he dragged and sank our society and community into vote buying. By his statement is he implying that it is acceptable by our entire community or country? He is confusing lobbying in the United States to our own sets of ethics and moral standards in Sint. Maarten. The reason and existence of government is to establish order, organization and jurisdictional line,- that resources and services can be fairly shared based on equality and need. In large part lobbying tries to influence decisions which lead to profit and displaces income creating class-struggles, and separation of people. Lobbying in itself is a greater part exerting influence and pressure while vote buying involves the selling out of our will, conscience and dignity as a people. Tactics used by lobbyist may include tools such as public relations, however, lobbyist try to influence in large parts decisions other than selling votes. Such statements donot compliment our way of conducting business in Sint Maarten, and its a very subversive and corrupt transmission of moral values and ethics to our childrens. I strongly oppose it.
