I honestly cant recall any other town where there were so many - TopicsExpress

I honestly cant recall any other town where there were so many caring, colorful, and just downright good people. I can remember the summer of 78, the year I had major surgery in Phillly. I was just a kid, 7 or 8 then, and I spent a month in the ICU. Things were rough and not going well for me, but everyday my parents came and told me of the happenings in town, who was asking about me, and the general everyday things back home. Even though I was unable to see, my head was completely wrapped in gauze at the time, and my hearing was not great due to the fact I could not wear my hearing aid, but the emotion, the feelings and the love of the town were palpable. I took comfort and refuge in my mind, picturing the river, the bridge, Rambos and Bischoffs. Of the Gorge in the fall and the millions of leaves falling upon the river, each one a subtle shade of crimson, gold, green, and all variations in between. When I finally came home, it was like walking into heaven itself. I honestly believe that Califon and the people in it helped me survive, to give me the will to live when even the Doctors and nurses thought all was lost. Every day I think about that little Borough in Hunterdon County and the power that it has. To all of you who have lived there, came from there and are still there, Thank you for keeping Califon alive, and in turn, me.
