I ignored getting on the bandwagon of running the story about Bonang being the first black South African celeb to be on the cover of Glamour magazine South African edition because I personally did not think it was anything worth celebrating. I actually found it insulting to black talent that everyone thought this was some history making milestone. Yall know I am team Bonang all the way. However, my love and respect for the industry comes first and this racist exploitation of black faces in the magazine industry is abhorrent. Black magazines do not pay black celebrities for covers. White magazines only use people like Bonang on their covers when they need publicity. The fact that Mens Health would switch a picture of a black model and not even bother to apologise to him publicly or even apologise to people who spent money voting for him goes to show how little regard this sector of the industry think of black talent and clientele. You are all just puppets including people like Bonang who have essentially become rent a black talent. It has to STOP!!
