I imagine that most of you have seen this before but this is the type of tree I grew up with in the fifties and sixties...of course on a lesser level than this! Mother used to get the trees from the grocery store and we would have a ball decorating it. Brite Light ornaments went on it of course, flattened garlands from years of use and a a string of lights or so...and then tons of tinsel. At the very top was a cardboard star covered in foil. To me that is still Christmas! I have an original elf on the shelf with a fifties Santa my Aunt gave me for Christmas and an Avon tree bottle that are cherished greatly. What a wonderful era to grow up in!
