I installed smoke alarms when I bought the house. A few days ago the smoke alarm in the hall was chirping. No problem, it just shows a weak battery so I changed it out... but it kept chirping. The next day I changed the battery out again with a brand new battery from the shop...but it kept chirping. The next day I took the battery out completely and left it out...and it still kept chirping. Odd. Id stand underneath it and just stare at it wondering how its possible to still be chirping. The next day I removed the whole smoke alarm and stuck it in a spare room. Seconds later, the empty spot where it used to be is chirping! (meanwhile every night around 5am the sound scares my dog enough to the point where she claws my bedroom door to get in) With a empty spot on the ceiling chirping away Im getting ready to call the priest when it dawns on me that I have a smoke alarm in the loft directly above where the other smoke alarm was. Mystery solved and apparently I am a dumbass.
