I just HAD to Yelp, Angies List and BBB. this... Our initial experience with Carpetland and Umberto was fantastic. He came to our house, gave us an estimate, we picked out our beautiful carpet and the best padding. My husband and I arent rich by any means, were hard working middle class and make ends meet. We ate very cheap for 3 months, saved up and scheduled the installation almost 2 months out. We were so proud of ourselves that we actually saved up enough money, and so excited to get the new carpet. Now, heres where the nightmare began...the day before the installation, the contractors called us to let us know they would be at our house between 11 & 12...we thought they would be here early in the morning. They said we needed to put all drawers, pillows, bedding, etc in the bathrooms so it would be easier for them to move furniture (which we paid extra for them to move furniture). My husband burned a vacation day on Friday to do exactly what they asked. Saturday at almost noon they called to reschedule for the next day. They double booked and apparently even though we scheduled 2 months in advance, the other house was more important than ours. They said they would give us $400 off for the inconvenience...fine. Sunday comes, and mind you, my husband and I couldnt get to our bathrooms to take a shower since Friday. The installers show up at 9 in an air conditioning and heating truck, start giving us crap about moving furniture (which we paid extra for and my husband had to dissamble the bed), they cut the carpet in the parking lot, walking all over it in their dirty shoes, pee in our toilet and all over the pillows we had to put in there, spit all over our walkway, leave staples on our front porch, throw their water bottles in our garden, and oh yeah, the new high dollar padding we paid for was NOT put down in any of the closets. They put the new carpet down over the old padding in all closets. They scratched our beautiful dresser and broke crown moulding just leaving it dangling for us to figure out how to fix. They took closet doors off and put none of them back on the tracks, leaving my husband to take them off again and put in correctly. Oh, and the $400 discount that was supposed to have been given for the inconvenience and rescheduling never hapoened We still have more house to carpet and tile, but Im thinking we will go elsewhere.
