I just enjoyed re-reading The Man of the Desert (1914) and Voice in the Wilderness (1916.) Theres a bit of continuity in the stories as the missionary featured in the first is also part of the second book. Arizona achieved statehood in 1912 and was a popular location for stories in the early 1900s as people around the US were fascinated with the wild new state.. Another favorite author of mine, Harold Bell Wright, also wrote a few AZ-based novels in this time period. They wouldnt fly today with some of their references to the natives as simple and primitive.
