I just finished reading a 400 page book of annotated bibliography. Its a list with brief descriptions of about 3000 major commentary volumes on various books of the Bible. I felt a little proud for having stuck to reading this for the past week, and enjoying it so much..... Then I just realized -- for every one paragraph description I read, this represented an entire 200-1500 page book the author (Dr. John F. Evans) read and digested into a (mostly) insightful entry. How the hell did this guy read, and have cogent opinions on, roughly 3000 volumes of Bible commentaries? That would be two books (some of them very highly technical, scholarly works) per week for 30 years! (Never mind all of his other reading -- he has to read a lot of things in life besides just Bible commentaries). This guy is a stud!
