I just finished watching the Tom Hanks movie That Thing You Do. Its one of my favorites movies. There is a scene in the film where the band, The Wonders, hear their song That Thing You Do for the first time on the radio. A handful of times over the years, during interviews with artists, theyve shared the stories of hearing their songs for the first time on the radio. And in every story, the excitement of that recollection comes through in the interview. The reactions are nearly identical and universal.
