I just got back from an Alternative Gift Fair in Monett, Missouri, a small and vibrant community near Springfield. A number of charities attended and H.E.R.O.E.S Care was one of them. Donors had the opportunity to learn about the work of the charities and make gifts in honor of someone they know. Each charity provided special holiday cards for the donors to send to their honoree. While I was explaining the work of H.E.R.O.E.S Care to an attendee, I felt a tug on my pant leg. I looked down and there was a little girl, no older than seven. She said to me, Are you the one who takes care of the soldiers?. I said, Yes, Im one of them. She handed me a crumpled and well-worn $5 bill that she had clearly kept for a long time and said, You take care of the soldiers for me. Do you promise? I replied, Yes. I promise. She smiled and skipped away. May you be as blessed this Christmas season as I was at that moment...
