I just heard a TV Global Spirit show that featured Deepak Chopra - TopicsExpress

I just heard a TV Global Spirit show that featured Deepak Chopra and Riane Eisler that was fascinating. They were discussing Oneness in the Universe. He was discussing his unity consciousness about which he has written but Riane was challenging from more of social science viewpoint. He was saying first comes transformation and she was saying that the inner work and outer work are connected. Both were talking about cultural evolution not biological evolution. I felt the difference was that Deepak was talking about a personal spiritual development and Riane was addressing the need for social change of a dominator society. But what happened in the discourse was that Deepak seemed to become uncomfortable and started to dominate and control the conversation by interrupting Riane. The male host looked more to Deepak in the course of the show. Deepak acted as if he had to explain to Riane his point of view instead of listening to hers. She was raising gender issues in the dominator society and he appeared to not want to talk about that. I was appalled when he kept interrupting Riane who never interrupted him. Deepak always went first because the host directed the questions to him first. I am having a discussion with a male activist about how society and most persons defer to males and rarely defer to females and I felt he gave me a lecture that women should not want to be deferred to. However I feel that under matriarchal societies they were and that they should be. One disappointing thing to me about the show was that while Deepak interrupted and took time Riane made very limited remarks even though her points were profound. She spoke about “the elephant in the room” which was the dominator society however she never mentioned patriarchy. Riane said the idea of God doesnt interest her as much as what happens here on earth. She talked about religious people who condone horrible things. This upset Deepak the most. He was talking about individual action and she was talking about collective action. I would be good if people watched the show if it is online and I would be interested in what others think.
