I just joined a bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives in passing H.R. 2575, the Save American Workers Act of 2014. This bill helps protect Americans from seeing their work hours and wages cut because of Obamacare. Under the health care law’s employer mandate, a full-time employee is defined as one who works 30 hours per week. This legislation would prescribe the traditional 40 hour work week. The need for this bipartisan action by Congress is further evidence that the president’s health care law is not only bad health care policy, it has troubling economic consequences for hard working Americans – particularly those earning an hourly wage and living paycheck to paycheck. This legislation is part of a broader effort to increase economic opportunity and financial security for American families.
