I just put some 30/35mm wide hookless 650b wheels on my mach 6 - TopicsExpress

I just put some 30/35mm wide hookless 650b wheels on my mach 6 last night and went on my first ride today. I set both wheels up tubeless. They sealed insanely easily. I was shocked for the rear especially as it was the Schwalbe Super Gravity casing. I used a floor pump but didnt put much effort in it at all. I swear I could have sealed them with a mini pump. I am running a Magic Mary 2.35 in the back. I just pulled out a tape measure and it measures 2.5 outside to outside knob on these rims. You could easily run the next size smaller tires on these rims if you wanted weight savings and were used to a certain width. The 2.35s look like most companies 2.5-2.6 tires honestly. I am running a WTB Vigilante 2.3 with the enduro casing up front. It also sealed up very easily. I didnt check tire pressure until after the ride (I let a bunch out on the trail). It turns out I was running 21-22 PSI in the back and 23-24 in the front. That is way lower than Im used to, but it felt great and not squirmy. I was on 26 wheels before and am used to running 32 on the back and 28 up front. The heavier casing, wider rims and I suppose larger wheel diameter (650b) made this feel perfectly fine. No chance I would consider this pressure on 26. Im only 165-170 pounds but I know how to ride hard and am competitive in Enduro/Super D events. So far so good with the wide hookless rims. I have not heard of any burping complaints with any of my customers. I have a good friend that has horrible burping issues with arguably the most popular alloy rim on the market. Im getting him to test the heck out of these wheels on some very demanding terrain with various tubeless tires. I want a bit more testing in our harsh trails before committing to hookless full bore, but all signs are pointing in that direction. Ill be posting a big list of tires Ive tried and my customers have tried on my website eventually, but I am betting the final result will be anything with a tubeless ready casing will work just as well as a hooked rim.
