I just read the best post from Coburn Places Executive Director. This is an email they received from a supporter coordinating a drop-off of supplies. If you have dishes, household items (no clothing, please) or even time to donate this year, please consider joining me in helping the amazing women and incredible staff who are helping break the cycle of domestic violence through safe housing. *** Happy New Year!! I picked up some cooking oil and was hoping I could drop it off on the way to or home from work on Friday. Would that be possible? Also, as I was checking out at the store the cashier was asking me what I was doing with so much cooking oil. I started telling her about how amazing Coburn Place is and she started talking about a set of dishes she had that she could bring in when the woman behind me in line said, Are you talking about Coburn Place? I said, Yes! Have you heard of it? Then, she says, I lived there about 5 years ago and it was the best thing that happened to me. Oh we had a moment right there and she shared more about her success of finding her own place to live and how well she and her kids are doing now. I was just so proud for her! Shes doing great! Just had to share...it was so serendipitous!
