I just read what one famous author wrote on his page regarding Tamarud and the way their protests were used. The author supports the ousting of the president and in the way it was carried out. He views it as "an absolutely democratic way". Here is what I wrote on the page of the presumably world-famous novelist: "This is total nonsense! I really doubt that you have a clue about what democracy is or even have ever lived in a democratic society. I have been and will always be against the ikhwan rule or the use of religion in politics. But I am equally dismayed by your discourse and the kind of politics you represent. You say you support democracy. Following are some questions relating to A B C democracy, very technical. Most important, how on earth can you be sure about all the numbers you quote about the demonstrations leave alone the way they should be interpreted? Furthermore, 1. Can you be sure that all those who took to the streets on June 30th wanted to remove morsi? 2. If they did, in what way? 3. How many of them wanted the army to take over? 4. And if did, what could have they suggested to do after ousting the president? 5. Do you see the act of taking to the street as fair and transparent elections? 6. Are you in your right mind to say that gathering signatures is equivalent to elections? 7. Even if they were, who has collected them? 8. Where did people sign? In a both or in the streets? 9. Who has counted the votes? 10. Where there any observers? 11. Where there any judges? 12. Where there any competitors? 13. Did these competitors have any chance to say a word about the fairness of the proclaimed voting 14. How many times did each person vote? Once? Twice? 100 times? How can you be sure? 15. Who has financed the whole operation of tamarrud? The state, or somebody else? 16. Where do these benevolent supporters stand in the political game? You say what happened was absolutely democratic. You must be using a very weird definition for these words. For me as a social scientist your logic is entirely ideologically biased and you know it. I guess you have been to a graduate school, right? How come you think this way There are endless questions but there is no point in writing them because I know you won’t have an answer and if you will, you won’t response. You are famous and that fame made you another authoritarian figure. Look at what you wrote up there and you see another Morsi al-Aswani speaking."
