I just received a very bittersweet message from the a mother of a old friend who recently passed I had heard that she passed and could have kicked myself for not keeping in touch we had reconnected later in life and by then she was already wheelchair bound. Sadly she kinda got lost in the shuffle of a not so great crowd I guess. I never really asked what was actually wrong with her. I would go visit her and help her out when I could. At one point in time I brought over our year book and we would spend hours laughing and looking at all our corny clothes and makeup of the day. You see she was a die hard fashion diva loving the cutting edge and punk rock look. I envied her for being so brave sporting the mohawk and rockin the leather threads. when no one else dared. But what I really remember was I was the new kid in 7th grade I just moved here to Saugerties from long Island. I had recently been run over by a truck and was rather messed up.Neck brace and paralyzed face put me in the special ed gym class ,riding the short bus and pretty much being a total outcast city kid with a gawd awful accent that would make you cringe. No kid in 7th grade was brave enough to touch me with a ten foot pole let alone take me under their wing, and make sure no one picked on me ! No one except my super spunky and very protective friend Gina ! I will never forget that. And Now your mom who had been sorting your things will be returning my long lost year book again. I will always remember you when I look at it and always remember what you did for me back in a time where kids could be so cruel. Thankyou girl I love ya! Rest In Peace Gina Ferraro
