I just received devastating news that Bob Meistrell passed away this morning from a massive heart attack. Bob, along with his twin brother Bill, founded Body Glove in 1953, inventing the first practical wetsuit out of the surf shop “Dive n’ Surf” in the early 50’s. Bob suffered his heart attack doing what he loved to do, on his boat “The Disappearance”, over on Catalina Island, leading the Rock to Rock Paddleboard Race. If you were lucky enough to meet Bob, count yourself very, very fortunate! The guy was the greatest! Always smiling, full of energy and always ready to help anyone – and I mean anyone – out in any way he could. Not only did the surf world lose an incredible person, but society as a whole! Rest in Peace my good friend.
