I just saw the sweetest thing. Papa Bluebird brought Mama Bluebird a nice big fat juicy grub, so that she wouldnt have to forage around in the cold rain and leave the eggs unguarded. He perched on a shepherds hook near the nest box until she noticed he was back. He flew over the box, she popped out and the two perched on the crossbars of the sparrow spooker while they made the exchange. Then off he went, back to work, looking for more bugs, while she returned to the nest. [backyard, Clermont County] How can anyone not love Eastern Bluebirds? They have to be the kindest, gentlest, sweetest birds on the planet.
