I just saw this posted by a Bail Bondman What do you think? Say no to O.R.! Why would you say no O.R. you ask? Because in this country you are innocent until proven guilty. When you agree to be released on your own recognizance, you waive the rights of an innocent person. You are subject to the conditions of person who has already been convicted of a crime similarly to someone who is on probation or parole. You are subject to search and siezure, travel restrictions (even for work), curfews, drug testing etc. Most people would not considers refusing O.R. and request bail because its FREE. But is it really free? With the exception of giving up your inherent constitutional rights as an American Citizen, it is free. You have the right to refuse O.R. and request bail. Just something to consider if you ever find yourself in the unfortunate situation of being arrested.
