ANNUAL BUS TOUR SATURDAY JULY 19th 2014 We will all meet at the North West corner of the Southland Mall parking lot at 8:00 so that we will be ready to leave at 8:30. We will be off to Camp Easter Seals is the only completely wheelchair accessible camp facility in Saskatchewan. Camp Easter Seal is dedicated to providing a fun and barrier free experience to all campers. Camp Easter Seal is situated in one of the most picturesque locations in Saskatchewan. Located at Manitou Beach near Watrous, it is surrounded by lush wooded slopes and the beautiful Manitou Lake. Then to St Peter’s Abbey, near Humboldt, for lunch and a tour of the Abbey. St. Peters Abbey is also the oldest Benedictine monastery in Canada, as it was founded in 1903. We will then meet up with Jim Ternier a seed farmer that owns and operates Prairie Garden seeds. The Ternier’s delivered a lot of vegetables to the Abbey kitchen. When we have our lunch at the Abbey, we may eating some of the fresh vegetables from his garden. Next stop is Dellwood Creek Garden where Marie Saretsky will treat us to a tour of her garden. You will enter an Art Garden that honours the four directions and the elements. Flowers of Dellwood Creek (1992) is an artisan small flower farm involving three large gardens of everlasting flowers, fruit trees and vegetables, handmade paper-making and a gift shop. Tours includes interesting information about many of the plants, companion planting, edible weeds and more. Then off we go to Saskatoon to Solar Garden for High Tea and a tour of their Succulent gardens. Solar Gardens, The Living Art Company is a unique Saskatchewan garden centre and experience created and operated by Roger Valliere and his partner, Chris. Specializing in succulents (and a few cacti), Solar Gardens incorporates their love of art and creativity while showcasing the natural beauty of succulent plants alone and in artistic arrangements and containers.
