I just spent a wretched hour+ looking up and sampling songs from a bunch of supposed lists of top/best songs of 2014. These end of the year lists are always iffy, but geez-Louise, if you go by these lists, its been a sorry ass year in mainstream genre music, from hip-hop to metal, from rhythm & blues to pop. At a pretty average show Ill go to, Ill hear at least one song better than almost all of the songs in these lists. Also, I notice Spotify being used a lot in these lists, which I dont think is a good thing. Another is that CMJs college radio list has albums that are on YouTube in their entirety, including one of the very few good ones: youtu.be/wa0q8KX7t44
