I just stumbled across this e-mail I sent to Winchester which my issue was never resolved....(anyone want to buy a box of partition gold slugs?).........I am writing this e-mail in an attempt to notify someone of a recent ammunition failure. I have attempted to contact what/who I thought was the appropriate person/department to no avail. As a lifelong hunter starting by tagging along with my father as a young boy walking ditch banks in soybean fields in pursuit of bobwhite quail, I have used and trusted Winchester shotshells for over 40 years. I have found them to be one of the leaders of the industry. On Monday January 16, 2012 I was hunting whitetail deer during Delawares late season, when an opportunity to harvest a deer presented itself. I was using a 12 guage H & R ultra slug gun loaded with your Partition Gold sabot slugs. I cocked the hammer, pulled the trigger only to have the firearm misfire. My immediate reaction was that I had failed to load my firearm. I broke it open, saw that the firearm was indeed loaded and fired a second time, only to hear a loud "click" yet again. I opened the gun, the shell ejected hitting me in the shoulder falling to the ground. I had placed the remainder of the box of your shells in the zippered compartment of my hand warmer, after attempting to unzip the handwarmer for what seemed to be an eternity, I remembered I had placed two additional shells in my left pants pocket. I pulled out one shell (which happened to be a Hornady) loaded the gun, cocked the hammer and proceeded to kill the deer. Upon retrieving the misfired shell I discovered that the firing pin had struck the primer as it should. I now have several concerns. First I am concerned that I have a box of shells that cannot be depended upon. I have concerns for my personal safety. I have concerns for my financial loss as the cost of a box of these slugs are about $15.00. I would like to possibly have this shell analyzed. I would like this product replaced. I would be willing to send one or all five shells to you. I supposed I am most happy that I was not looking at the biggest buck of my lifetime, a possible state record, or any well antlered buck in general, that would have been a tragedy. I look forward to hearing from you.
