I just want to give a shout out to Julie McKenzie, the Director of Rehabilitation, at Carolina Wildlife Center who has stayed late tonight working on a little fawn in SERIOUS trouble. I got the initial call about a fawn in critical condition. I coordinated with Julie to get the fawn sent to her since the people who found it were so much close to Columbia than here and the fawn had to get in as fast as possible. I will spare you the details, but Julie is working on a hideous mess right now. Weve exchanged 4-5 phone calls so far tonight and Im on standby in case we need to talk some more before the night is over. Weve got transport already set up for tomorrow to get it here. Its hard for me to NOT be able to get my hands on something this critical. (The critical ones are my area of expertise.) But I know Julie well and shes an awesome rehabber. If this fawn lives, it will be because of all of Julies hard work tonight. If it doesnt make it, I will know that it had every chance possible. Thank you, Julie!!! You are an angel to all the wild creatures that come through your hands!
