I just watched one of my all time favorite chick flicks, Steel Magnolias. It wasnt the original but the remake done 2012 with Queen Latifah. It was good. Almost the same dialog, same character names, and only a few things altered or updated. I have to say, Queen Latifah brought her A game and did a great job. I usually love her. Alfrie Woodard played Quiser and she was fantastic as always. I dont know who the girl was that played Shelby but in some ways she was better than Julia Roberts was in the original. I had started to watch it for mainly two reasons, 1. Its a favorite and I wanted to see how badly theyd changed it and 2. I love Queen Latifah. The bottom line is, still a good movie, not the exact same as theyd cut several scenes out or staged them in different places, but all in all just as funny and as sad as the original.
