I keep forgetting I have a FB page! But for what its worth, heres a (very) short run-down on work this year so far... Its been a year of nearlies and not-quites. Excellent agent has been opening some great doors and Ive been down to the last couple of choices for some really good gigs. But factors outside of my control have thwarted me. Ive been the wrong colour; the wrong nationality; not ugly enough and not famous enough this year for some big jobs. Fortunately I am perfectly cast in my new role as Dad. Which is kind of like an indie film shoot: long hours, no money but brilliantly rewarding... Thats not to say I havent worked - Im good at keeping myself busy and there have been some excellent moments this year so far. I spent a day working opposite Kelsey Grammer in the UK comedy feature film Breaking the Bank, due for release in the not-too-distant-future. He was a real gent - funny, generous and charming. Lord Kelsey of Grammer. I only had one scene with him, but it was head-to-head. Although I didnt think I have a chance to rehearse with him beforehand, he was more than happy to throw it around. So I had a jolly old time throwing a scene around with him. Nice. Earlier in the year I went to Dallas for a week with Twist and Shout to shoot a follow-up for the comedy-corporate series Restricted Intelligence. Really good fun and supported by some great local Dallas comedy talent. Ive been lucky enough to work with director Vadim Jean twice this year - once on Breaking the Bank, and again on a curious online ad for a car dealership comparison site. Random but such a great time. The concept is that three car dealers are presented in split-screen and counter their own stereotype. But each of the split screens was shot as a single take - so I had to act with the imaginary versions of my other selves. Confused? Well just have a look at it - its quite fun. Here: youtu.be/JuWy1kIDPiA But the big news just this week is that I have a new Voice Over Agent - which Im very happy about. The wonderful Jamie Grant at Loud and Clear Voices has taken me on and Im very chuffed to call them my new VO home. They are current, keen and a hot-bed of vocal talent. Here I am: loudandclearvoices/voice/jonathan-rhodes/ Nice. Oh - and theres a film out soon called Squat that I play a good supporting role in - so well look out for that and when I have dates, Ill pass them on.
