I keep reading some of the statistics about earning etc and begin to wonder if we are actually a profitable country? I just have this sneaking suspicion we are actually not selling enough goods and services to keep the country going. That what we see if ever more finagling to get money in the pockets of rich people? How much of the high Dow Jones average is nothing more than trading amongst the traders? We saw this sort of thing with Enron. I know Americans as a country just do not have the money to buy the goods and services that are for sale, certainly not enough to get us out of the depression we are in. I think the bubble leading up to the great recession was mostly spurred by one major thing, people using their equity in their home because their earnings just were not enough to get those things they wanted? Result up and up prices all out of proportion to reality and then massive fraud by wall street and banks to keep the illusion of prosperity going.
