I knew it was coming, but I didnt think it would be that soon. Yesterday, after the pain of the previous evening had subsided a bit, Deb looked at me with those big brown eyes and said, Can we go riding again today?. I knew there would be no sense in trying to talk her out of it so I said, Sure babe, lets go.. If you have never ridden a horse, you might not realize just how many muscles you use, that you wouldnt generally use. They can be pretty sore the next day, even if you only ride a short period of time, if youre not use to riding pretty consistently. I asked her if she was sure, and she said she was a little sore but it wasnt too bad. She had the fever, and she was quite determined to do it again, right away. So, we went up and saddled them up. I made her put the bridles on all by herself yesterday. She did pretty good. While I was Saddling Miss Scarlet deb was holding her reins, and when I put the saddle on her, and started pulling up the cinch, she turned and bit Debbie on the arm pretty hard. The look of shock on Debs face was hilarious. her chin dropped to her knees! Apparently, she had never thought about a horse biting her. She didnt realize they did that! Then the numbness wore off, and the tingling that turns to intense burning pain set in, and here comes the tears. Scarlet got her pretty good, but she shook it off, and came back to hold the reins again. She was a bit more attentive as to where Miss Scarlets head was the second time around. I dont know if she had the bit in too tight, and it bothered her, or if Scarlet was telling her she wasnt riding her today, and to back off...lol. I got the feeling it was the latter because she didnt even try to bite me. She went after Deb like she went after Cannon after I rode her the first time. Anyway, we got them saddled up, and went for our little trip around the farm, without any further incidents. Scarlet behaved like a pro after Deb got on her again. By the time we got back to to the barn, Deb had come to the realization that even things you love to do, when you do them in excess, can be very painful...lol. Her leg muscles were so exhausted she could barely stand up and walk. She felt like she had rubber legs. She now hurt in places she had not hurt the day before. It took all the strength she had just to walk back to the car. She was exhausted. She still wasnt looking very spry, even after she woke up from her nap, that she took almost as soon as we got home. Id be willing to bet you , it will be a little while before I hear, Can we go ride the horses?, again. ;-) LMAO We went out last night for dinner, and stopped on the way back, to get a copy of Gods Not Dead from the video store, and today I think we will just sit home and watch that. Shes still in bed, but I cant wait for her to get up, so I can see just how black, and blue, that bite marks gonna be. Between the bite, and sore muscles, its probably going to be a rough day for Deb.
