I know Doctors are notorious for having old issues of magazines - TopicsExpress

I know Doctors are notorious for having old issues of magazines around. Today while at the doctors office for a routine checkup, I found an April 1985 Smithsonian magazine. At first I thought boy, I bet the doctor has been looking for this for 30 years. Then I thought of the irony of donating the 1985 Smithsonian to a museum. Since I was on doctor time, I had plenty of time to explore what 1985 had to offer. It was the days when luxury meant a German or American car. When you referred to a nice camera, it was a SLR. The internet was as scarce as laptop computers. The in home gaming systems were just emerging and none was as addictive as Candy Crack Crush Saga. Publishers advertised books for sale and not DVDs of movies based on books for sale. No advertiser offered a single domain name in their ads. We all led a simpler life as broadband WiFi, cable t.v., wide screen TVs, email addresses, smart phones, and making appointments on the web were not mandatory as basic living, This lady pictured in the magazine was reminiscent of all of us just beginning our media overload trek in the future. In 1985 we paid much more attention to each other than we did our precious electronics.
